We're looking for a Senior Front-End Engineer to join a team building greenfield Progressive Web Applications from the ground up. This role sits at the intersection of modern front-end craftsmanship and collaborative product engineering, focusing on delivering clean, performant, and accessible web experiences in a dynamic Agile environment.
Working hours: Pacific Standard Time - 8 hours/day
Key Responsibilities
- Develop Progressive Web Applications using JavaScript, HTML, Sass, and Svelte
- Write clean, readable JavaScript following SRP, DRY, and KISS principles and actively contribute to code reviews
- Contribute technical design expertise and assist teammates in technical problem solving
- Mentor junior developers and support a continuous learning environment
- Write unit tests with solid coverage using Jest
- Assist in grooming stories with well-defined acceptance criteria and contribute to design discussions
- Reinforce standards, best practices, and modern development conventions
- Collaborate effectively with both engineering and non-engineering stakeholders in highly cross-functional team environments
Requirements
- 5+ years of front-end software development experience
- Expert-level proficiency in Svelte — this is a must
- Expert in vanilla JavaScript with strong emphasis on ES6+
- Deep expertise in HTML, DOM, browser events, and page lifecycle
- Proficiency with CSS and preprocessors such as Sass or Less
- Strong grasp of Responsive Design techniques for mobile web
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum software development teams
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) — required
- Browser performance engineering knowledge and optimization strategies
- BA/BS in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- Good level of spoken and written English: able to communicate effectively across distributed, cross-functional teams
- Ability to work during Pacific Standard Time (PST) hours
Preferred Qualifications
- Node.js experience, specifically with GraphQL servers
- GraphQL skills using queries & mutations
- Experience developing against accessibility standards (WCAG, etc.)
- Familiarity with application monitoring tools (e.g. Datadog, New Relic, Dynatrace)
- Awareness of web application security concerns (e.g. XSS)
- DevOps experience: CI/CD pipelines, automation tools, cloud-native API solutions
